    Re: The Ilusionist Arrives

"We are attempting to see what is causing the fairy to remain asleep, Presto." Varla answered.

"How are you going to do that?" Presto wondered.

The masked mentalist butted in, putting the hat away and setting the mask aside. "Varla is going to try to bring Fairalin's dream into reality, sort of."

"How?" the Magician asked, concerned for the illusionst. "It's not like she knows what Faira's seeing or can even talk to Fairalin when she isn't even awake?"

The Mentalist grinned "She can do both with this." Cole then showed Presto the Stone of Zarpathos, the small gem radiated a soft blue glow. "See, with it Varla can see into Fairalin's mind. At the same time I've asked her to make an illusion of the dream so we can interact with whatever Fairalin is dealing with. Because her health looks relatively stable, its more than likely that she isn't trapped by a spell or being harmed by a dream demon like Terri was."

"Bu-but if Varla's in her mind how will Fairalin see you?" the really-confused Presto asked the less-confused Mentalist.

"The Fairy will see everything in her mind that we see out her because I'm not an innate telepath, right Cole?" Varla answered. Presto scratches his head trying to make sense of it.

"Look" the mentalist tried to explain "when I first used my telepathic powers to search for the source of those orc illusions, I was picking up on what was happening in the throne room through Varla. She saw everything that was happening with us back at the portal too!. See, my gem-granted telepathy is like a two-way street: what I know the other person will know and vice versa. Now, if I give Varla the gem, she will telepathically see what is happening in Fairalin's dream and will make an illusion to show the rest of us. Meanwhile Fairalin should interpret us being in her dream since she could perceive our presence through her telepathic connection with Varla."

"But the thing with the dream demon, you weren't really awake and you and Terri told us that you got hurt!" Presto said holding Varla's hand tightly, standing between her and the Mentalist "How can you be so sure nothing will happen to Varla!"

"I can't." Cole replied, "However Varla should remain conscious during this little scheme. I wasn't and neither was Iris because of the dream demons machinations, I think. And I know it sounds dangerous, but perhaps Fairalin just needs to know that we're all here for her. Who knows, Presto," he said looking to the group of outworlders, new and old, who were assembled in Krys' room. "we could be stuck here for a very long time too. If so, don't you think we should stick together?"

Presto then let go of his love's hand as she walked with the Mentalist into the hallway. She would have more room to create the illusion there and it wouldn't cause even more confusion for the others who were already in the middle of numerous sporatic conversations, unless they decided to walk into the hallway.

Presto then went back into Krys' room, found the sleeping fairy then returned with her to the hallway, placing her in Varla's hand. Cole then handed Varla the the Stone of Zarpathos placing it alongside the fairy as the illusionist began to focus her mind on initiating contact with Fairalin. Meanwhile the world around the four began to take on the apppearance of a forest with a layer of mist just above the floor.

((I hope that didn't confuse too many of you!))
