    Re: Zak leaves the meeting...

"Zak, wait," Kryschenn called as the Lorekeeper started to leave the room. Glancing over at Presto, Varla, and Cole, she prayed they would be able to help Fairalin; it was a great deal her fault that the faerie was in the shape that she was in. She caught up with Zak and handed her a piece of paper. "You weren't sure if Cassandra would listen to you. She and I got to be friends, maybe a note from me would mean something to her. I was writing a letter that I thought they might take with them when they go after her, but I was hoping you could try sending it by carrier pigeon. Or carrier puffin, that's a bird that lives on the coasts of Scotland." She handed the paper to the Lorekeeper. It read:

    "Dear Cassandra,
I hope you're alive and well enough to read this. I'm stuck here under suspicion of murder, as you know, and although I'm not under arrest, I can't go too far without risking the entire palace guard coming down on my neck. I hope this letter carries across how worried I am about you. Please, please reconsider what you are doing. I realize you want to test your strength and powers, but going up against Venger solo without really knowing what you are capable of is not the way to do it. I did that last night, not even by choice, and he almost killed me. This is not the Venger we know and love from the cartoon, the Venger that always manages to miss and never really hurt much of anything. He didn't give me any warning and he didn't show a lot of mercy. By all rights I should be dead now. And I didn't even do him the offense of invading the sanctity of his stronghold. Cassie, have you ever heard 'The Flowers of the Forest,' or 'Going Home,' which are two of the most beautiful and saddest funeral dirges ever written for the bagpipes? I've never had to play them for any of my friends and I don't want to have to start now. Please, come help me clear my name or at least heed the word written in Gaelic in my clan crest: Unite. Wait for the rest of us, come back to Yarfell and catch up with those still here, but please do not go charging in there by yourself.

    Kryschenn

p.s. Eric and I are going to have a 'talk' about his attitude, so don't worry about that."

Kryschenn looked at Zak hopefully. "Think you can send that to her before she gets too far?"
