Dan was standing at the edge of the defile peering down into the gorge as he waited for his friends to catch up. The Adventurer, however, was so engrossed with surveying the land that he hadn't noticed how close behind his companions actually were. Ashley came up behind him chatting amicably with Sterling and Thothalas on the nature of elves.
He figured the woman had noticed the yawning crevice in front of her...but apparently he had assumed far too much. The young woman actually walked right over the edge. Dan reacted quickly and his whip flew out from his hand wrapping itself around Ash's upper arm as she began to tumble.
Unfortunately, the Adventurer hadn't counted on the sheer power of gravity; he'd never done too well in physics. So, the unprepared Adventurer joined Ashley in their unplanned descent into the crevice. Thankfully, it was a graded slope rather than a complete drop off.
They tumbled down the cliff scattering rocks and debris all over the place. The hit a small legde about 15 feet down and skittered to a stop, both dangling precariously over the edge of a much steeper drop.
