Re: You think you have problems??!!

Posted by Kryschenn on 10/1/2000, 2:30 am , in reply to "Re: You think you have problems??!!"

"Oh, heck yeah, they took my weapon. You think they'd let a prisoner keep a sword?" Kryschenn sighed in exasperation. "They took it when they caught me outside the castle. Well, actually, I surrendered peacefully and let them take it."

Glancing down at her boots, she apologized, "Look, it's my fault you guys are in jail when you didn't do anything. If anyone deserves to be in prison, it's me, but we're all being lumped together as 'Outworlders' and people are scared of us. I don't know if there were any rumors flying around, but I guess word travels fast. If you heard anything about a massacre at Lord Droth's estate committed by an Outworlder, let me set the record straight. Aye, that was me. Droth and his retainer were already dead when I got there, but there were a bunch of assassins on the palace guard who jumped me. I went nuts. I think. I...I don't really remember what I did...but I know I did it. Ask Fairalin." She paused, not wanting to even consider what had happened, but knowing she owed everybody an explanation. "So anyway, you guys are all in 'protective custody' because of me. I'm sorry." As she spoke, she tried to find something that she could use to pick the lock on the cell door. It wasn't like she knew much about lock-picking, but she had to try. Maybe she could improvise a pick out of one of the buckles on the shoulder-strap of her leather tunic? Probably not. Her sgian dubh would have been handy for this, assuming it would have been missed in the search, but she'd given that to Cole before they'd left for Venger's castle, and had gotten the rose in return. The flower was still pinned to her tunic, even after the day's adventures, but probably wouldn't make the Top 10 List of the Realm's Best Lockpicking Tools. Besides, it was sesame that was believed by the ancient nomads of Arabia to hold the power to open locks, not rose petals. ((Hence the phrase, "Open Sesame!" --editor's note)) She studied the pin for a moment. Hmm... Extremely unlikely... but what could it hurt to try?

"Hey, Zeo on the subject of magic weapons," she called, inserting her makeshift pick between the door and its frame and already realizing the pin was just too flimsy to be of any help. "I'm grasping at straws here. I don't know a thing about Sailor Moon and whatever, so go ahead and laugh if I sound like an idiot for asking. Can you tell me if there is even a slim-to-anorexic chance that the Tuxedo Mask rose thingy I have here has any secret powers that I should know about?"
