Trying to muster something other than an overwhelming sense of self-pity, she shakes her head and tries to focus on him instead...he looked distinctly worse for wear himself. "And you? Are you OK? What did he do to you?" Tommy shrugged, wincing slightly at the motion. "Okay, storytelling mode. Nah, bugger that, I'm not in the mood. I'll just summarize. Shadow Demon mugged me while I was going to change clothes, brought me here. Apparently he thought I was someone else, a double working for Venger. You know, he seems to enjoy that. Anyway. When he figured out who I was, he blasted me."
He turned slightly so that Zakiyah could see the unmarked skin through the burn marks in his shirt. "He was nice enough to heal the superficial wounds, at least. Seems he wants to keep me alive for a while longer. The double is apparently back in Yarfell doing whatever he was supposed to be doing, probably making things even worse for us."
Tommy shook his head. "Other than that, I've just been passing the time here in this cell." He glanced at the angle of the sunlight coming through the window. "For quite some time, from the look of it. I'm surprised -" he broke off. "The team that was coming here. Do you have any idea how close they are? What's happened today?"
