Zakiyah looked at the heavy gold bracelet clamped around her wrist. "Just this," she says quietly. "It's what's kept me alive for so long." She considers his theory. "I would feel it if the spell had been broken. But perhaps it is because the other half of the spell lies within the book." "There!" she tosses the ribbon aside and allows him to examine her head. The lumps are small and painful, but they aren't actual cuts. Eventually Zak moves to glance out the window, but she sees little, being fairly short. What she can hear, faintly, sounds like a drunken brawl. Distant off-key chanting interspersed. She almost smiles. "I think they're having a party....too bad we're not invited..."
