“Thanks for the vote of confidence guys.” Ashleyien wasn’t sure she could do it, but her friends were counting on her. “Here goes nothing,” she said a little too nonchalantly. “An object?” she thought for a minute, “hmm, I know! I guess this thing has a purpose other than just annoying me,” she said as she untied her hair and struggled to get the tiny silver chain out of it. Once it was out, she tied her hair back up, wrapped the delicate silver chain around her hand, letting the tiny blue crystal dangle below. “I hope this is will work.” The Warrioress stared at the stone for a few moments, committing the image to her memory. She closed her eyes; clearing her mind of all else, she pictured the blue crystal in her mind, all else disappeared into a black background. The crystal within her mind began to glow with a faint light. The image of the crystal faded as an image of dangerous trap appeared. She instinctively gathered the power within herself and released in though her outstretched hand. The image of the trap began to glow with a faint blue light, which intensified with each passing moment. Ashley could see thousands of tiny streams of blue light wrapping around the trap. Within seconds the trap was completely engulfed within the light. She tied off each of the threads into a knot, binding the trap within the light. When she was finished the light faded and the trap was gone; only the image of the dangling blue crystal remained.
In real time, only maybe a minute had passed since the Warrioress had closed her eyes. The dangling blue stone had glowed bright with power, which quickly faded. When the light had vanished Ashleyien opened her eyes. “I’m not sure if it worked. I hope it did. I guess we’ll find out in the fortress. Let’s get going, we have a Lorekeeper to rescue.”
Ash tied the chain around her wrist, which was a bit annoying but allowed her easier access to it than on her forehead. She turned to Sterling for a moment, “Oh, by the way, I volunteer to protect Thothalas, Cadbury and Alexia while they hold the portal, if that’s all right with you.” Then she started walking towards the fortress looming just ahead of them; keeping one eye on the blue crystal to see if anything happened.
