Re: "Getting something off my chest . . ."

There was a moment of stony silence as Hank digested the Mentalist's apology. He had yet to precisely put his finger on the source of the argument between himself and Cole- the basic reason being that it was a surprisingly new situation when the members of a group were clearly following someone else's lead. It had seemed like a challenge to his leadership, for someone who was quite used to being the natural figure that everyone looked up to, and he didn't know how to handle it at the time. Even if someone told him to his face that that had been the problem, he probably wouldn't have believed it anyway.

So he analyzed the Mentalist's apology and came up with three things: One: The Mentalist seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders after all and really did seem to mean the apology. Two: Maybe now that it had been said out loud, the pressure to hook him up with Sheila might lessen. Three: He really did NOT like it when people called him Henry.

Well, two out of three ain't bad. At least it seemed like Cole was trying. "Fine," he said, "apology accepted." When he said nothing more by way of an apology of his own, Sheila gave an irritated sigh of frustration. He looked over at her, noticing her crossed arms and her glare which reminded him of a mother scolding a misbehaving child. "What?" he asked innocently.
