Sunny watched as Abigail seemed to disappear into the crowd. Everything seemed to have happened so quickly; first the trolls appearing...just what *were* trolls doing there anyway? No troll she ever knew lived beneath a bridge, was this some backwards hillbilly type of troll, or what? Then, once the trolls' obnoxious riddle was answered, and they found the cave, Kayla was delighted to find a Gundam of all things, sitting there waiting to be taken. How on *earth* had a Gundam gotten here? And since it *was* here, what *else* might be here as well....or who?
Smiling widely at the thought of coming across Tuxedo Kamen, she paused to daydream a bit about him being there, even behind her, ready to reach out and touch her and. . .
She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned with a sultry smile, only to visibly deflate at the sight that greeted her eyes. Shoulders slumping, she sighed. "Oh, it's only you Matthew."
The boy did not even have the time to register being hurt, for it was just then that the Gundam, with Kayla inside, blew up to scatter flaming wreckage all around. A large piece would have even most likely have injured her, if not for Matthew's quick thinking as he tackled her to the ground, sheilding her with his own body.
By the time the pair had untangled themselves from one another, the villagers had already arrived and were combating the fire. Knowing the best way that she could help was to keep clear, she watched as the flame was quickly put out.
The villagers were quite saddened by Kayla's loss, she could feel it. Even Matthew was fighting hard not to keep from crying. Sunny stared across the remains of the Gundam and felt the tears well up in her own eyes; Kayla had, after all without even knowing her, saved her from the love-crazed Orcs that were chasing her when she first discovered the village.
Looking around at the dispersing crowd, feeling a little lost, and more than a little alone, Sunny breathed a shaky sigh.
"Come along Lady Sunny," Matthew said softly, grasping an arm and leading the unresisting blond towards the inn. "We should rest up for the service that they said would be held tomorrow."
Sunny nodded, silent until they reached the inn. She then stopped a moment, wondering where Abigail had gone. She spotted the other woman off in the distance, talking to the well-dressed stranger that had arrived after the fires had been put out. She turned to look at her companion.
"Matthew," Sunny said, nodding her head towards the figure. 'Who is that talking to Abigail?"
Matthew looked a moment, then his eyes narrowed. He was not pleased at all, Sunny sensed. "He's from Yarfell," the boy all but spat. "I don't know what he's doing here, except for asking about outworlders. Toby said that the elders only spoke of Kayla, so you and the Lady Abigail are safe from their witchhunt."
"Witchhunt?" Sunny's eyes flashed with anger. She turned and led Matthew towards the inn; Abigail had said that she would meet up with them again, and Sunny took her at her word. "You must tell me all you know of what's been going on in Yarfell then Matthew, and leave nothing out. I need as much information as I can gather to tell Abigail when she returns. I have the feeling that the more we know, the better off we will be."
