Amaronte flew into the spacious study of his mistress. Tuculcha sat a high-backed chair, surrounded by volumes of magical knowledge. She had used her powers to heal her wounds, but it had left her in a weakened state. She was now searching for spells to use against the young heroes who planned to rescue the accursed High Wizard Gareth.The dark sorceress raised her violet eyes to meet the recently unfrozen raven’s black ones. “What do you want, Amar? Can you not see that I am busy?”
The raven bowed his head to his mistress, “Mistress, there are intruders within the fortress.”
“Oh? Describe them.”
“A Drow and a Sun Elf together! There is also that warrioress that escaped your dungeon and the white rabbit as well. Their numbers also include a tall man in a strange hat, a young woman with a large hammer, a young woman in black with an interesting cloak, and a monk with a staff.”
Tuculcha growled angerly, “Those troublesome would-be heroes are here! They just left, why would they return? Amar, go speak with them and do whatever it takes to get rid of them, I do not wish to deal with them at this moment.” She looked down at the books for a second and then raised her head once again, “I shall have to reactivate the traps and wards around the castle, and here I hoped to try to conserve some power by leaving them off for a while….”
Amar didn’t hear the rest of his mistress’ ravings since he flew out the meet their guests. He flew down flights of stairs and though several corridors until he reached the group of adventurers.
“Good evening honored guests. To what does my mistress owe this honor? My mistress sends her regrets that she cannot meet you herself. She is quite occupied at the moment and would prefer if you could come back at a later time.”
