    effectively distracted

Posted by Lord Venger on 11/7/2000, 2:05 pm

Venger had not gotten where he was in the Realm by being either distractable, stupid, or subject to weaknesses of the mind or body. Such things he had learned to control and put aside centuries before- mages learned such things early on, when distraction meant death in a messy or embarassing manner, and Venger had become the wielder of the most powerful magicks of the Realm.

Which only meant that when such urges were finally awakened after centuries of repression and dormancy, they were not put aside easily. So effective was Rose's strategy of infiltration and Bubbles' magically enhanced performance, that Venger had been completely fooled into believing that the attack he expected was still miles off and far away, rather than taking place while he dallied. It would take a powerful blast of magic to distract him now.

Such a blast as those preparing to break into his prison tower, for example.

In the meantime, unbeknownst to him, Cole's forces had scaled his wall, and Zak's book of the Realm had been stolen, and his troops were either passed out in a drugged sleep, or being further entertained/distracted by Rose. His carefully laid wards had been infiltrated and his carefully laid traps about to be sprung harmlessly...

He was NOT going to be happy when he found out...

    In the meantime, however....
