Nothing was working!Kryschenn gave another savage kick which knocked one of the gremlin-things down. But that's not to say that it was of much help in the long run. The things kept coming. More and more were pouring into the tunnel, forcing her back farther and farther, pushing her away from her friends and their only source of light.
She could see Celeste, Teri, Presto and Varla, and a small, flitting image that she assumed was Fairalin. Everyone else was still fighting the umber hulk, apparently. She still wasn't quite sure how she'd gotten out of the pit and wandered all the way down here, and she spared just a moment to pray that she hadn't gone berserk and blacked out again.
One of the creatures jumped at her, its savage claws digging into her shoulder, its slavering, snarling mouth inches from her face.
"YAAAAAAAAAAAHH!" she screamed, which at the very least may have had the effect of deafening the creature. Reflexively, she grabbed the thing's legs, tore it off her, and swung it around to bash its head against the tunnel wall.
"Somebody do something!" she shouted, realizing that she was close to being forced around the bend in the tunnel.
