Two of the gremlin-creatures turned away from Kryschenn to swat angrily at the faerie that was annoying them. The others, those that had not turned down the tunnel to attack the source of the flames, continued to swarm the Highlander until they pulled her to the ground."Faira!" Krys shrieked from under the frenzied mass of gremlin bodies. "Somebody do something!" The situation was beyond desperate. Her sword was worse than useless against these creatures; any attack from the magical blade only caused the creatures to duplicate. Her leather armor luckily protected her from most of their vicious claws, but that was in no way the end of her trouble. Several of the things grabbed her ankles, and she screamed in a new terror and dug her fingers into the ground when she realized they were dragging her further down the tunnel.
"I am NOT going to be your dinner!" she shouted as her fingers closed around a large, loose stone. Barely able to move under the suffocating weight of the monsters crawling over her, she somehow managed to get in a good swing, the rock connecting with a creature's head with a dull crunch. A solid kick sent four of the creatures flying.
She managed to scramble up to one knee, but her victory was a short one as three times as many hissing, snarling creatures jumped her to replace their fallen comrades.
