As the group reached the bottom of the long winding staircase, Ashleyien wondered if they had done the right thing. She had been all for saving Zak, but what if it just made everything worse? Now Sterling was gone too and who knows how they faired back at Venger’s fortress. She really hoped Sterling’s back-up plan was a good one.
Ash tried to shift Thothalas’ weight a little, her shoulder was really starting to hurt. ‘If I feel this bad from the little bit of magic I did, he must feel horrible.’ Her head still pounded and she wondered how she was still standing, ‘Will power.’ She thought, ‘my desire to get out of here is stronger than any fatigue I feel. That must be it.’
She looked over at Dan, “So, Sterling made you the leader, what’s your plan? I suggest getting out of here and making our way to the first marker in the direction of Gareth, then getting some rest. What do you think? Anyone have any objections?”
