Then another explosion rocked the building again and she heard the howl. She'd heard it in far too many episodes not to recognize it, or the way the fortress immediately started crumbling around them. "NO!" she shrieked in disbelief. And in a blind fury she launched herself at Sterling, fingers crooked, and her nails seeming to have grown into little claws... Tommy watched with a growing sense of amusement as Bubbles verbally tore into Sterling. Not that he didn't think his friend deserved it... However, as Bubbles apparently decided to make things a bit more physical, he decided he'd better intervene. Unfortunately, the architecture had other ideas in store for him. Apparently taking his comments about its construction personal, he was hit on the shoulder with a chunk of broken mortar as he began to step forward. More rubble fell around him, and he just had time to look up as the avalanche began. His companions only had time to watch with horror as a particularly large piece of masonry removed the entire section of staircase, carrying it to the floor far below. A faint green light could be seen pulsing through the rubble once, twice... but not again.
