Kimmy's eyes widened just a bit as she saw a shadowy figure fly through the place. "Shadow demon?"Just as the explosions struck, she has felt the opressive force lift. A very powerful demon had left the fortress. Even though the almost painful feeling had left her palms, what she was doing was not made any easier.
Rosalia breathed hard as she forced herself to concentrate on keeping the doorway blocked. The others needed time to get out of the fortress before the roomful of guards made it out.
She crossed her wrists in front of her, hands outstretched and ready. The hawk continued to dive and harrass various men, but it was getting more difficuly to keep up the snake illusion and keep the shield up. She lowered the shield so that it covered only the lower half of the doorway. Her eyes darted back and forth, waiting to see what the guards would do. They were still wary as the snakes dissolved back into the main coils of smoke which surrounded them.
She gasped slightly as a familar tingle entered her palms and a shadowy figure burst into the room, taking in the situation. It flew slowly around until it hovered before her. Its eyes narrowed as it recognized both her and the marks on her palms beneath the smoke.
"Storyteller," Shadow demon said in its sibilant voice, "I am sure that when he returns, Venger will be interested in speaking with you. He may find a use for the marks you bear."
Rose took a shaky breath to calm the panic rising within her. She did Not want to be here when Lord Venger returned, nor did she want him to inquire about her marks. It would be worse for her if he were to find out she were the last of the Vallanheart line. She knew that Amian could save her but he would not tresspass upon Lord venger's fortress. There were rules to follow if she wanted to summon him. She had to get Shadow Demon to say the proper words...
"Shadow Demon," she said steadily, "If you know of these marks, then you know it will not be easy to get information from me."
Shadow Demon nodded his head in defernce. "It will be enjoyable to see how long you can last. As the bearer of such marks, you will give the torturers a chance to be creative."
"And when I survive-" she began when Shadow Demon interrupted.
"Where is your accent, Storyteller? I think Venger has more to learn about you than I thought."
Rosalia winced inside as she realized she betrayed herself in her fear. She continued, "Wh-when I survive, what will you do to me then? Make a slave out of me?" She held her breath and waited for his response.
