From the entrance to the ballroom, Kimmy's voice echoed off the walls of the hallway outside in exasperation."What do you mean it's not *THAT* kind of costume party? It's a party where ya dress up, right? A costume party!"
A muted voice answered her voice in another attempt to explain.
"But I *AM* dressed up. Presto even helped me!" she called over her shoulder in a wounded tone as she stood in the doorway.
Still dressed in her teal leggings, she now wore a black tunic with her mug slung across it, small black gloves and a headband with two little black triangular fluffy ears on it. A section of a black feather boa was tied to the back of her belt and trailed down to her knees. A glittery black Lone Ranger style mask with whiskers hung from its elastic as she twirled it around one finger and a hollow, plastic jack-o-lantern swung from her other hand.
She gave a small gasp of delight as she walked into the ballroom. Ribbons were strewn through chandeliers and attached to the walls and ceilings. Translucient strings of beads glittered in the light, sparkling as they hung artfully around the room, adding to the festive occasion. The guests who had already arrived were dressed in fantastic gowns and jackets, some with masks and others in make-up.
Kimmy trembled with excitement, not knowing what to do first. There was just so much to look at!
"Oh, you've GOT to hurry up and take a look at this!" she called out gleefully, wondering if she'd be able to recognize her friends.
