    Re: Leaving to save lives

"Geez, that sounded wrong." Cole said to himself watching the dust trail Kayla's horse left disappear in the wind through the window of the room he was in. "I probably should have gone with her. What if something bad happens to her while I'm preoccupied with Sheila or something. Then again how durable is she, I mean, she made out of clay, not flesh and blood like the rest of us."

"Too bad I can't really be in two places at once like in the dream or have a real decoy." Cole then sent out a telepathic call to ask for someone to help keep tabs on the Clay Dwarf and report to him should she come to harm. Oddly enough, a listener familiar to Cole heard his call and agreed to help him out. "What is your name, anyway?" the Mentalist asked of his helpmate in this little operation. Upon hearing the name, a series of chirps unpronuncable in any human toungue, Cole suggested one he would have an easier time remembering. "How about 'Jack,' 'Jack the Robin.' not a bad ring to it, eh?"

"It will do, I suppose." 'Jack' responded. "so is the one you are asking me to look after the woman made of earth riding atop a neigh-sayer? For if it is I believe I have spotted her."

"A 'naysayer?'" Cole wondered before realizing what the 'Jack' meant. "Oh you mean 'neigh'-sayers, as in the sounds they make. We call them 'horses'and yes, that should be her. Thank you, Jack. How did you get here anyway?"

"I followed you all through the hole made by the one who wields the feather, whom your allies called the 'Lorekeeper', just before it closed." Jack answered.

"Oh, well again thank you for offering to watch over her and be careful, okay." Cole said as he severed contact with Jack.

"I shall." the Robin replied as it flew in persuit of Kayla

"Well," Cole said, his conscience now weighing less on him, as his thoughts returned to the events that would transpire later that evening, "all I need now is to find a Ranger costume and then I'll be all set."
