Kimmy had been having a blast! She had danced between the many couples and guests staring with delight at all the costumes. She ran around like a little kid who ate too many sweets, or like a caffinated kender, looking at everything and saying Hi to all her friends as she discovered them in their costumes.
Kimmy stopped by the ghostly figure of the Storyteller and said, "Hiya Rose! What a great costume!" She reached out to finger the fine stuff of her skirts in admiration. "Will you be performing soon? What kind of story will ya be telling?"
Before the Storyteller could answer, Kimmy said excitedly, "Oh Rose! You'll never guess what we found! I was with Krys and Cassie before we all went up to check on Terri. Oh look! There she is now! Hiya Terri!" Kimmy called out and waved. "So there I was, talking to them and- this was after you had told me your story in the garden- and it was just like you said there on the banner! Ya could see exactly where it was supposed to go, too! They found the-"
Kimmy's eyes bugged out for a moment and she gasped loudly. "I'll be right back!" she said hastily and ran over to where she saw Fay standing over to the side, watching the dancers.
She paused near Fay and together they looked on as Iris, Krys, and Cassie played their songs with Yarfell's musicians. Swinging her half full jack-o-lantern and stuffing one of its new found contents back inside, Kimmy's eyes glowed as she watched Hank and Sheila dance together. She giggled up at Fay, trying to guess what epic verse the Poet was writing in her head, capturing the moment.
Kimmy's eyes widened as the song ended and Hank and Sheila still danced. Her breath caught briefly in her throat and she started bouncing in place on her toes. Continuing to bounce, she grasped Fay by the arm and said breathlessly, "They're gonna do it! They're gonna kiss! They're gonna kiss! They're gonna kiss!"
Just then, a row of brass trumpets sounded a fanfare, and a Herald shouted clearly through the
ballroom, "Her Royal Majesty, Diana, Princess of Yarfell!" drowning out the Starbuckian's impatient shout of, "Kiss her already!!!!"
Kimmy's ear to ear grin wilted as the "couple" broke apart to bow and her wail of "Noooooooo!" mingled with the disappointed cries of the other matchmakers as the last notes of the trumpets ceased.
Bowing more with a feeling of defeat than respect, Kimmy sighed and then shrugged, knowing there would be more chances. She looked up, eager to finally see the Princess.
