When's the last time you saw Phantom of the Opera, Faira?" Kryschenn shouted wryly, jumping and
rolling to dodge the glittering spray of shattered chandelier. She realized she had come to a stop about five feet from Kimmy.
Kimmy's jaw fell open as all sorts of things seemed to happen at once. The princess arrived and then Cassie shouting at her, DM's arrival, more shouting... "some party this is turning out to be," Kimmy mumbled to herself.
Suddenly her thoughts were shoved promptly forward in her brain as she reflexivelt side-stepped out of the way as a chandelier fell.
"My goodness! Now THAT was certainly exciting!" Kimmy said. Suddenly she was accosted by Krys.
"Kimmy!" she whispered harshly, grabbing the kender and hauling her close. "No time for fun and games. Remember when you saw that Cassandra had found that orb jewel thingy earlier? This is serious, okay? It's a big secret, between us, all right? I don't want you telling anyone that I've got it hidden back in my room, got that?" It was a deliberate lie, to doubly misdirect attention from the jewel.
Not only did Cassandra still have the real one, but the decoy was actually wrapped safely in one of the handkerchiefs Kryschenn had stuffed in her bra. Krys had read her Dragonlance, and knew that something so interesting as that orb probably stood a good chance of mysteriously "appearing" in the
kender's pocket if she knew where it actually was.
"Uhhhhhh......" Kimmy looked up at Krys with wide innocent eyes and wondered if she should ask what would happen if she had maaaaaybe kinda sorta might of mentioned the fact to EO and maaaaybe almost to Rose, hypothetically speaking of course.
Looking at Krys very serious expression, she thought she wouldn't ask after all and simply said, "'K!" as she made a mental note to tell EO to be sure Not To Tell ANYBODY about the orb as it was Serious and a Secret between them... and Kyrs and Cassie... and maybe Rose, though she couldn't exactly remember if she had actually told the Storyteller the wonderful news or not...
Kryschenn looked around frantically. "Where is that lass?" she mumbled, angry that Dungeon Master
had led Cassandra off. She had no intention of letting Cassandra or the real orb out of her sight this evening. "I'll be right back," she said, and dashed off in the direction Dungeon Master had led the Mystic.
Kimmy watched Krys run off and thought that maybe letting the Princess know about the orb wasn't such a hot idea after all, especially after seeing the funny way she had reacted.
"Maybe we could just sorta "borrow" the scepter for a little bit and go look for that guardian thingy ourselves," Kimmy pondered and quietly disappeared for a while, as the party seemed to be over anyway...
