((Let me do a little tweaking on my "daring escape" now that I've had time to think about it.))
Okay, okay, Krys realized in a second. Looks like Cassandra has things taken care of here...
That's when the captain of the guard turned and pointed a gauntleted finger at the Mystic. "Treason!" he roared. "No one speaks in such a manner of the Princess or the Grand Vizier! Sieze that woman as well!"
Oh, things are definintely going to Helena Handbasket (That wicker company in the capital of Montana.) The guards were now trying to seize both of them, and that fortunately left them completely disorganized.
The guards were nothing of importance considering that had definitely been Shadowdemon that had made Zak tell the lie Kryschenn had crafted. And he was probably going to report back to Venger. Gee, which was more pressing? Worrying about jail which she could probably get out of with a little help from her friends, or worrying about an attack by the big baddie himself?
Shadowdemon couldn't teleport, so he probably couldn't have gotten far. With a "MOVE IT!" that startled the distracted guards surrounding her, she swung her sword for an opening and dashed down the hall. "Iris! She yelled. Cover Cassandra if that whatever-it-is doesn't!" One of the guards made an attempt to follow through the confusion, only to have his effort brought up short when Kryschenn whirled and threw her targe in a very Xena-esque move, catching him squarely in the stomach and knocking him flat.
Crap. Where was that lackey of Venger? It was so dark down these halls. There weren't enough torches. He would probably be keeping to the dark passages until he got out of the castle, and then back to Venger's stronghold. That could only mean trouble.
((The rest of the post stands. Thanks!))
