"Uh, sure," Eric said after a moment, trying to support the deadweight of the unconscious berserker. He hoped she was all right...there was an angry-looking lump on her temple where her head must have hit something, and the gremlins had scratched her up, but he couldn't see any life-threatening injuries.
Eric glanced behind him at Sailor Zeo, who had saved him from looking in the umber hulk's eyes. "Hey, um, about that thing back there..." but he never got to finish the sentence. He saw a gremlin running at him out of the corner of his eye, and as a matter of reflex, tried to ward it off with his shield's force field. Too late, he remembered that the things were not affected by its magic. The creature hit him on the shoulder and dug it's claws into his chain mail, snarling hungrily into his startled face.
